Shri Nilkanthdham · Poicha
A trilingual pilgrimage site for a living temple
Shri Nilkanthdham is a Swaminarayan tirtha-campus on the Narmada at Poicha, run by Shree Swaminarayan Gurukul Rajkot Sansthan — mandir, Sanskrit gurukul, Gaudham, thematic gardens, the Sahajanand Pradarshani and the Tirthalayam guest house on one site. The website serves two audiences at once: devotees who come daily for darshan, aarti timings and seva, and pilgrims planning a first visit who need timings, ticket rates, rooms and directions. All of it in English, Hindi and Gujarati.
Why it stands out
The design system is written as one thing rather than assembled from parts: a named sacred palette of saffron, gold, sindoor, ivory and midnight, a golden-ratio type scale, and a font stack pairing Cinzel and Cormorant Garamond with Noto Serif Devanagari and Noto Serif Gujarati so all three scripts sit at equal weight instead of one being an afterthought. Translation is per-node — every heading, label and menu item carries its own three-language attributes, and a MutationObserver re-translates anything injected after load, so language never breaks on dynamic content. Behind the static HTML sits a JSON content API the temple office edits directly, with a ticker that reads the ritual schedule to show which aarti is live right now.
- Trilingual per-node i18nEnglish, Hindi and Gujarati switch in place across nav, body and modals, with injected DOM re-translated automatically.
- Live darshan and aarti tickerAn inline darshan player plus a Live Now panel driven by the admin-editable sixteen-step daily ritual schedule, from Mangala Aarti to Shayan Aarti.
- Admin-editable content APIJSON content feeds hydrate news, aarti times, the thal log and footer settings into otherwise static pages.
- Seva and donation flowA modal offering form with custom amounts and 80G receipt fields, backed by a Razorpay hosted page.
- Tirthalayam room bookingPilgrims are routed to the correct booking engine by room class, with cancellation policy and the booking office line alongside.
- Fuzzy site searchHeader search scores query tokens against a curated index merged with page titles harvested from the navigation.
